Vanta Alternatives in 2026: 8 Platforms Compared on Price, Audit and Fit

Vanta alternatives compared on price, audit and fit

The best Vanta alternatives in 2026 are SecureSlate, Drata, Secureframe, Sprinto, Thoropass, Scrut, Oneleet and Comp AI. Pick SecureSlate or Sprinto for lower cost, Thoropass if you want the audit bundled, Oneleet if you want pentesting and audit support bundled, Drata or Secureframe for a similar enterprise-grade product, and Comp AI if you want open-source code.

SecureSlate wrote this guide and ranks itself first. To keep that honest, every price below comes from a public source (vendor pricing pages, AWS Marketplace list prices, Vendr purchase data), checked in October 2026, and we list our own weaknesses and where Vanta is still the better pick.

Key takeaways

  • Vanta is the category leader, with 16,000+ customers, 35+ frameworks and 400+ integrations. It is the safe, familiar choice.
  • Cost is the main reason teams leave. AWS Marketplace lists Vanta at $14,000 to $23,000 a year for 1–20 employees, before add-ons. Vendr puts the median contract near $20,000.
  • The audit is not included. Vendr estimates a separate SOC 2 audit at $8,000 to $25,000 or more.
  • Some alternatives bundle the audit. Thoropass uses an affiliated CPA firm. SecureSlate starts at $2,688 a year, and higher plans can include one framework audit and a pentest.
  • Cheaper software-only options include Sprinto ($9,500 a year for one framework on AWS) and Scrut (Vendr median $7,250).

What Vanta is and what it costs

Vanta was founded in 2018 by Christina Cacioppo and Erik Goldman and went through Y Combinator. It now brands itself an "Agentic Trust Platform." In July 2025 it raised a $150M Series D at a $4.15B valuation, and in April 2026 it reported $300M in annual recurring revenue.

The product covers automated evidence collection, continuous control monitoring, a Trust Center, third-party risk management, questionnaire automation and the Vanta AI Agent, which drafts policies and questionnaire answers. It supports 35+ frameworks, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, ISO 42001, HITRUST, FedRAMP, CMMC and the EU AI Act.

Vanta pricing in 2026

Vanta does not publish prices on its own site. It sells Essentials (one framework), Plus, Professional and Enterprise. The clearest public numbers are its AWS Marketplace 12-month list prices for 1–20 employees:

Vanta plan or add-on (AWS, 1–20 employees) 12-month list price
Essentials $14,000
Plus $21,500
Professional $23,000
Trust Center $6,000
Trust Center Advanced $10,000
Questionnaire Automation (144 per year) $10,000
Third-party risk management (50 vendors) $13,600
Customer Trust Management bundle $22,250

Larger headcounts cost more. Vendr reports a median annual contract of about $20,000, with deals observed from $7,500 to $57,207. Our Vanta pricing guide goes deeper.

Does Vanta include the audit?

No. Vanta offers access to its auditor network or lets you bring your own auditor, but the audit is a separate contract. Vendr estimates a SOC 2 audit at $8,000 to $25,000 or more. That second invoice is the part first-time buyers most often miss.

Why teams look for Vanta alternatives

Most Vanta customers are satisfied. The reasons people leave are consistent, and they are mostly about money.

The total bill grows past the headline. A 15-person startup that needs SOC 2, a public trust page and questionnaire help reaches $30,000 at AWS list prices ($14,000 Essentials, $6,000 Trust Center, $10,000 questionnaire automation), before the audit. Small teams often find the total cost hard to justify.

The audit is a separate project. Teams that want one vendor and one price for "get us a SOC 2 report" have to run a second procurement.

Some integrations need upkeep. Plan for some connector maintenance and limited report customization, and check that niche tools in your stack are covered. With 400+ connectors, this mainly affects less common stacks.

Figures come from the sources listed at the end. Your quote will depend on headcount, frameworks and negotiation.

First-year cost: software plus audit

Because Vanta excludes the audit, the fair comparison for a first SOC 2 is software plus audit.

Option Software (year one) Audit Contracts
Vanta Essentials (AWS list) $14,000 $8,000–$25,000+ (Vendr estimate) Two
Thoropass (AWS "starting at") $8,700 $5,800 One vendor, two line items
Sprinto (AWS list) $9,500 Separate CPA fee Two
SecureSlate (published) From $2,688/yr (Starter) Available on higher plans, with a pentest; see /pricing One

Vanta's real first-year cost for a small team often lands well above its software price. Several alternatives start lower or fold the audit in.

1. SecureSlate

SecureSlate is a compliance automation platform for SMBs, with a focus on HealthTech companies preparing for SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA. We are a younger brand than Vanta, so our case rests on price, published plans and what is included.

Key features

  • Continuous evidence collection and control monitoring, with shared control mapping across frameworks.
  • Auto-remediation agents that fix some failing controls directly in the source system.
  • Built-in security tools: DAST surface monitoring, secrets detection, dark web monitoring, code security, open-source license risk and end-of-life software detection.
  • Trust center, questionnaire automation, vendor risk and access reviews in the platform.
  • Policy library, security awareness training and a device agent.
  • Frameworks including SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, HITRUST, GDPR, PCI DSS, NIST CSF, CMMC, FedRAMP, NIS 2, DORA, the EU AI Act and custom frameworks.

Pricing

Starter is $2,688 a year for up to 5 users and one framework. Higher plans add users and frameworks, and can include one framework audit, a penetration test, a dedicated auditor and audit prep; see pricing. Enterprise is custom.

Elfie switched from Vanta and reported about 70% lower platform cost; read the Elfie case study or our SecureSlate vs Vanta comparison.

Best for

Startups and SMBs, especially in HealthTech, that want published prices and the audit inside one contract.

Tradeoffs

We are a younger brand. Our integration catalog is smaller than Vanta's or Drata's, our partner ecosystem is smaller, and fewer auditors have worked in our platform. If a customer expects to see the Vanta name, weigh that.

2. Drata

Drata is Vanta's closest like-for-like rival. Founded in 2020, it has 8,000+ customers and passed $100M in annual recurring revenue.

Key features

  • Continuous control monitoring with cross-mapped shared controls.
  • A Trust Center built on SafeBase, acquired in February 2025.
  • Agentic TPRM Assessment and AI questionnaire tools.
  • Audit Hub plus a directory of pre-vetted audit firms.
  • 30+ prebuilt frameworks, including ISO 42001, CMMC and FedRAMP.

Pricing

No public prices. AWS Marketplace lists a $25,000 platform fee plus $7,500 per framework, so $32,500 a year with SOC 2. Vendr reports a $25,000 median across 235 purchases.

Best for

Venture-backed SaaS companies that want a Vanta-grade product and a strong trust center.

Tradeoffs

Drata is not a cheaper Vanta, and the audit is separate. Check that its built-in integrations and configuration options cover your stack. See our Drata alternatives guide.

3. Secureframe

Secureframe, founded in 2020, sells compliance automation backed by more than 30 in-house experts and former auditors. It claims 6,000+ customers.

Key features

  • Automated tests, evidence collection and continuous monitoring.
  • Comply AI for remediation, plus AI questionnaire automation.
  • Secureframe Defense for CMMC, with SPRS tracking, SSP, POA&M and a managed CUI enclave.
  • Trust Center, user access reviews and a hosted MCP server.

Pricing

Fundamentals starts at $7,500 a year on Secureframe's site. AWS Marketplace lists $7,500 for the platform plus $7,500 for the first framework, so $15,000. Vendr reports a $20,000 median.

Best for

Small and mid-market teams that want hands-on guidance, and defense contractors working on CMMC.

Tradeoffs

The audit is separate; Vendr estimates $10,000 to $30,000 or more per framework. Confirm coverage for niche tools; some, such as Azure DevOps, may not have a native integration.

4. Sprinto

Sprinto, founded in 2020 and backed by Accel, is often described as cheaper than Vanta and Drata. It claims 25+ frameworks automated out of the box.

Key features

  • Autonomous agents that refresh evidence and prepare audit artifacts.
  • Unified Commitments, which maps frameworks, contracts and policies into one control set.
  • Autonomous TPRM and AI governance mapped to ISO 42001 and the EU AI Act.
  • 300+ integrations, a Trust Center and auditor network access on every plan.

Pricing

Plans are "contact sales." The US AWS Marketplace listing is $7,500 for the platform plus $2,000 for the first framework, so $9,500 a year. Vendr reports a $15,000 median.

Best for

Startups on a first certification that want Vanta's automation model at a lower entry price.

Tradeoffs

No CPA audit is included. Expect a learning curve, and test integration sync timing during your trial. More in our Sprinto alternatives page.

5. Thoropass

Thoropass, formerly Laika, pairs a readiness platform with an affiliated, AICPA-registered CPA firm, so software and audit come from one company.

Key features

  • Audits for SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA and HITRUST e1, i1 and r2.
  • An Audit Lifecycle Platform from kickoff to report.
  • First Pass AI, which checks evidence before the auditor sees it.
  • Smart Sort AI, which ingests exports from other GRC tools, so it can work alongside your current platform.
  • CREST-accredited pentesting.

Pricing

Quote-based. AWS Marketplace shows the platform with first framework from $8,700 a year and a SOC 2 audit subscription from $5,800, billed separately. Vendr reports a $25,964 median.

Best for

SaaS, healthcare and fintech companies that want one vendor for readiness and audit, including HITRUST.

Tradeoffs

An affiliated auditor can be a problem if a customer requires no common ownership. Ask how CSM and auditor continuity is handled across audit cycles. See our Thoropass alternatives page.

6. Scrut

Scrut Automation, founded in 2021, offers 70+ frameworks and AI "Teammates," such as a Policy Architect and Evidence Collector, that act with human approval.

Key features

  • AI Teammates for policies, evidence, internal audit and vendor risk.
  • 150+ integrations with stale-evidence flags.
  • Control drift detection and DAST runtime security.
  • An open MCP server and a Trust Center.

Pricing

AWS Marketplace lists $15,000 a year for up to 20 employees. Vendr shows a much lower $7,250 median, so real deals are often well below list.

Best for

Small and mid-market teams that want many frameworks at a low price.

Tradeoffs

The audit is separate. Plan for some manual integration setup.

7. Oneleet

Oneleet was founded in 2022 by penetration testers and raised a $33M Series A in October 2025. It bundles compliance with human pentesting, code scanning, CSPM and a vCISO.

Key features

  • Human penetration testing by certified testers.
  • Code, dependency and DAST scanning with autofix pull requests.
  • CSPM for AWS, GCP and Azure.
  • A dedicated vCISO in Slack, plus mock audits and managed audit support.

Pricing

Quote after a demo. Vendr shows a "SOC 2 All-In-One Package" at about $24,000 a year.

Best for

Security-first startups that want pentests in the same contract as compliance.

Tradeoffs

An independent CPA firm still sets its own fee, which Oneleet quotes before signing. Its integration catalog is smaller, so check your stack. Ask for an itemized quote to compare fairly.

8. Comp AI

Comp AI was founded in January 2025 and raised a $34M Series A in September 2026. Its core code is open source under AGPLv3 and can be self-hosted.

Key features

  • 580+ integrations for evidence collection.
  • Policies generated from details about your stack.
  • An open-source device agent and natural-language control tests.
  • A trust center that hides drafts and failing controls automatically.

Pricing

No rate card. Comp AI quotes one fixed fee covering platform, auditor and pentest. The self-hosted edition is free if you run it.

Best for

Engineering-led startups that want to inspect or host the code.

Tradeoffs

It is a very young company. A third party advises confirming the CPA firm's fee in the quote. Budget time for onboarding.

Where Vanta still wins

Brand recognition. With 16,000+ customers, Vanta is the name enterprise buyers and investors expect. That recognition can shorten security reviews with large customers.

Integration breadth. 400+ integrations plus an API and Auditor API is one of the largest catalogs in the category.

Framework range. 35+ frameworks means you are unlikely to outgrow it.

Auditor familiarity. Many audit firms have worked inside Vanta, which smooths fieldwork.

If those matter more than cost, Vanta is a sound choice. Our Vanta review has the full picture.

How to choose a Vanta alternative

Start with the problem that made you look.

If it is price, compare SecureSlate (from $2,688 a year, published), Sprinto ($9,500 on AWS) and Scrut ($7,250 Vendr median).

If you want the audit in the same contract, look at Thoropass, SecureSlate's higher plans, Oneleet and Comp AI, and ask each who signs the report and whether the CPA fee is in the quote.

If you need a Vanta-grade product, Drata and Secureframe are the closest matches. Neither is much cheaper at list.

If you are in healthcare, confirm HIPAA and HITRUST support. SecureSlate and Thoropass both cover HITRUST.

If you want security testing included, Oneleet bundles human pentests and SecureSlate's higher plans can include one.

Then run a trial with your real cloud account and identity provider.

Switching from Vanta

  1. Check your contract. Note the renewal date and notice period, and start about 90 days out.
  2. Export everything. Policies, evidence, risk registers, vendor lists and past reports.
  3. Map controls. Shared control mapping handles most SOC 2 and ISO 27001 overlap.
  4. Reconnect core integrations first: cloud, identity, HR and code repository.
  5. Confirm your auditor can work in the new platform.
  6. Overlap briefly. Keep Vanta until key controls pass in the new tool.

FAQ

What is the cheapest Vanta alternative?

Among published prices, SecureSlate Starter is $2,688 a year for up to 5 users and one framework. Scrut's Vendr median is $7,250 and Sprinto lists $9,500 a year on AWS for one framework. Vanta Essentials lists at $14,000 for 1–20 employees. Comp AI's open-source edition is free to self-host, but you run it.

Does Vanta include the SOC 2 audit?

No. Vanta offers its auditor network or lets you bring your own, but you pay the audit firm separately. Vendr estimates a SOC 2 audit at $8,000 to $25,000 or more. Thoropass and SecureSlate's higher plans put the audit in the same purchase.

How much does Vanta cost in 2026?

Vanta does not publish prices. AWS Marketplace lists $14,000 for Essentials, $21,500 for Plus and $23,000 for Professional per year for 1–20 employees, with add-ons such as Trust Center at $6,000. Vendr reports a median of about $20,000. See our Vanta pricing guide.

Is Vanta worth it for startups?

It can be if enterprise buyers expect the Vanta name or your stack needs its 400+ integrations. For a small startup on a first SOC 2, a $14,000 starting list price plus a separate audit is a lot, and small teams often find the total cost hard to justify.

What is the best Vanta alternative for healthcare companies?

Look for HIPAA, HITRUST and an audit path. SecureSlate focuses on HealthTech, supports both frameworks and can include an audit on higher plans. Thoropass covers HITRUST e1, i1 and r2 with its affiliated CPA firm. Review the HIPAA requirements first.

Is Drata cheaper than Vanta?

Usually not. Drata lists $32,500 a year on AWS for platform plus SOC 2 and has a $25,000 Vendr median, against Vanta's $14,000 Essentials list price and roughly $20,000 median. Drata is a like-for-like alternative, not a budget one.
