User Access

Access File Uploader

SecureSlate can automatically pull user accounts from many systems through integrations. For systems that don’t yet have a native integration, you can use the Access File Uploader to import account data so those systems still appear in User Access and Access Reviews.

When to use the Access File Uploader

Use an access file when:

  • You need to include a system in an Access Review but SecureSlate cannot connect to it via integration.
  • You have an export (CSV, screenshot, or PDF) of user accounts from that system.
  • You want SecureSlate to act as the single source of truth for access data across both integrated and non‑integrated systems.

Before creating an access file, double‑check the Integrations page to confirm there is no native integration available for that system.

Download the SecureSlate access file template

  1. From the sidebar, go to User Access → Access Reviews.
  2. Start creating or editing an access review that will include a non‑integrated system.
  3. In the section for systems that need manual data, choose Upload access file and download the Access File template.

Save a copy of the template for your company and system, for example:

Required fields in the template

The access file template has four columns. Use exactly these fields:

Field Required Purpose
Account name Yes Use this field to capture the name of the account to be reviewed
Account owner No (recommended) The email address of the person in your company who is responsible for this account (Valid email in SecureSlate or No owner).
Role No The role or permission level assigned to the account in the system (e.g. admin, member).
MFA Status No Use thie field to indicate whether MFA is enabled in associated account (Yes/No).
Status Yes Whether the account is active: Active or Deactivated.

One row per account; the header row should list these column names.

Follow the template carefully:

  • Capitalization is flexible, but avoid extra spaces.
  • Do not add or remove required columns.

Populate the file from your system

To fill out the access file:

  1. Export the user list from the target system (or capture it via screenshot/PDF if exports aren’t available).
  2. Copy or transcribe the account details into the SecureSlate access file template.
  3. Double‑check:
    • Every row has an Account name.
    • Status is set for each row.
    • Email addresses in Account owner are valid.

Upload the access file to SecureSlate

  1. Return to your Access Review in SecureSlate.
  2. For the non‑integrated system, select Upload access file.
  3. Choose your completed CSV file and upload it.

    Once uploaded:
  • The system and its accounts will appear in the review alongside accounts from integrated systems.
  • Reviewers can make keep/remove/change decisions for each account as usual.

Best practices

  • Keep one access file per system so reviews remain organized.
  • Coordinate with your auditor to confirm that your exported/entered data format meets their expectations.
  • Refresh and re‑upload access files before each review cycle so the account list reflects the latest state.
  • If a native integration becomes available in SecureSlate later, switch to the integration and phase out manual uploads for that system.
